Turkish man detained in Dubai after posing with Erdoğan poster
A resident of Turkey’s northwestern province of Bursa was detained during a trip to Dubai when he unfurled a poster of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, pro-government Habertürk website reported on Wednesday.
The incident took place at the city’s famous Dubai Mall, when Ali Çil, a former district mayor of Bursa’s Boyalica Municipality, opened up a large poster of Erdoğan to have his photograph taken with.
Police on site intervened immediately, HaberTürk said, taking Çil and two friends who were with him to a nearby police station.
The three were kept in police custody for six hours before being released with the help of the Turkish consulate, it said.
