Narrated by Ibn Maajah in as-Sunan (no. 4084); al-Bazzaar in al-Musnad (2/120); ar-Rooyaani (no. 619); al-Haakim in al-Mustadrak (4/510) – and via him by al-Bayhaqi in Dalaa’il an-Nubuwwah (6/515).
Al-Bazzaar (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
Something similar to this hadith was narrated with this wording via a different isnaad, and we only know this wording in this hadith, although most of the meaning of this hadith has been narrated (in other reports). We selected this hadith because it is saheeh and because Thawbaan is a man of dignity, and its isnaad is a saheeh isnaad. End quote.
Al-Haakim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
This is a saheeh hadith according to the conditions of al-Bukhaari and Muslim. End quote. Adh-Dhahabi did not comment on it in his Talkhees.
Al-Haafiz Ibn Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
This is a saheeh, qawiy isnaad. End quote.

Prophet(Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) said “Nearing Qiyamah there will be a Group of people who will recite the Holy Quran but it will not go below their throats. They will leave the true Religion of Islam as fast as an arrow leaves the bow. They will be recognized by the shavings of their entire head and they will move in Groups and their last Group will emerge with Dajjal, when you meet them you will discover their nature and character, the worst of its kind.” (Mishkat Shareef pp/309 – Prints may vary and pages may be different in other publications)
Sayed Allama Dahlan (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) quotes in his book ‘Addarus Sunnia’ an authentic Hadith of the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) which states:
“There will be a Group of people emerging from the East ( Najd) who will recite the Holy Quran but it will not go down their throats.
They will leave the folds of Islam like an arrow leaves the bow never to return. A feature to recognize this Group is that their heads would

Bij de derde keer zei de Profeet (vrede zij met hem): “Er zullen daar aardbevingen zijn, beproevingen zullen zich daar voordoen en de hoorn van Shaytan zal van daar tevoorschijn komen.”
