( 12 ) O jullie die geloven, vermijdt veel van de kwade vermoedens. Voorwaar, een deel van de kwade vermoedens zijn zonden. En bespioneert elkaar niet en spreekt geen kwaad over elkaar in elkaars afwezigheid. Zou iemand van jullie het vlees van zijn dode broeder willen eten? Jullie zouden het zeker haten. En vreest Allah. Voorwaar, Allah is Berouwaanvaardend, Meest Barmhartig. [49:12]

These are the words which Mu'awiyah himself from the Messenger of Allah salAllaahu 3alayhi wa salam, and Allah benefited him by them.

حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الرَّمْلِيُّ، وَابْنُ، عَوْفٍ - وَهَذَا لَفْظُهُ - قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ ثَوْرٍ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ إِنَّكَ إِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ عَوْرَاتِ النَّاسِ أَفْسَدْتَهُمْ أَوْ كِدْتَ أَنْ تُفْسِدَهُمْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ كَلِمَةٌ سَمِعَهَا مُعَاوِيَةُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى بِهَا ‏.‏

(23) CHAPTER. If somebody peeps into the house of some people whereupon they poked his eye; he has no right to claim blood-money

6900. Narrated Anas radiAllahu 'anhu: A man peeped into one of the dwelling places of the Prophet salAllahu 'alayhi wa salam. The Prophet salAllahu 'alayhi wa salam got up and aimed a sharp-edged arrow head (or wooden stick) at him to poke him stealthily.

6901. Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd bin Sa'd as-Sa'idi: A man peeped through a hole in the door of Allah's Messenger's house, and at that time Allah's Messenger salAllahu 'alayhi wa salam had a Midra (an iron comb or bar) with which he was rubbing his head. So when Allah's Messenger salAllahu 'alayhi wa salam saw him, he said (to him), 'If I had been sure that you were looking at me (through the door), I would have poked your eye with this (sharp iron bar)." Allah's Messenger salAllahu 'alayhi wa salam added, "The asking for permission to enter has been enjoined so that one may not look unlawfully (at what there is in the house without the permission of its people).

6902. Narrated Abu Hurairah radiAllahu 'anhu: Abul Qaasim (the Prophet salAllahu 'alayhi wa salam) said, "If any person peeps at you without your permission and you poke him with a stick and injure his eye, there will be no sin on you."

196. It was narrated that abu Mūsā [al-Ash’arī] said:

“The Messenger of Allāh salAllāhu ‘alayhi wa salam said:

‘Allāh does not sleep, and it is not befitting that He should sleep. He lowers the Scales and raises them. His Veil is Light and if He were to remove it, the glory of His Face would burn everything of His creation, as far as His gaze reaches.'”

Then abu ‘Ubaidah recited the Verse:

‘Blessed is whosoever is in the fire (i.e. the light of Allah), and whosoever is round about it! And Glorified is Allah, the Lord of all that exists.” [27:8]

Comments:

a. It was not worldly fire but, as mentioned in Sahīh Muslim, the Light of Allah. The Arabic expression Hijābuhu nūr or Hijābuhu nār means His Veil is Light or Fire.

b. ‘And whosoever is roundabout the fire’ means the Prophet Mūsā ‘alayhi salām and the Angel Jibrīl ‘alayhi salām (Tabari’s Commentary, 11/165).

( 8 ) Maar toen hij er aankwam, werd hij geroepen: "Gezegend is hij (Môesa) die op de plaats van het vuur is (i.e. Het Licht van Allāh) en die er omheen zijn. En Heilig is Allah, de Heer der Werelden. Koran Soerat an-Naml [27:8]

عن زيد - يعني ابن وهب، قال: أتي ابن مسعود فقيل له: هذا فلان تقطر لحيته خمرًا، فقال عبد الله: إنما قد نهينا عن التجسس، ولكن إن يظهر لنا شيء، نأخذ به.

وروى ابن أبي نجيح، عن مجاهد في قوله تعالى: «ولا تجسسوا»، قال: خذوا ما ظهر، ودعوا ما ستر الله.

وأما قوله: {ولا تنافسوا} فالمراد به: التنافس في الدنيا. ومعناه: طلب الظهور فيها على أصحابها. والتكبر عليهم، ومنافستهم في رياستهم، والبغي عليهم، وحسدهم على ما آتاهم الله منها. وأما التنافس والحسد على الخير وطرق البر، فليس من هذا في شيء وكذلك من سأل عما غاب عنه من علم وخير، فليس بمتجسس فقف على ما فسرت لك، وقد مضى في باب ابن شهاب عن أنس من هذا الكتاب في معنى التحاسد والتدابر والتباغض - ما فيه كفاية، فلا معنى لاعادة ذلك ههنا. ومعنى قوله: «لا تدابروا ولا تباغضوا ولا تقاطعوا»، معنى متداخل كله متقارب، والقصد فيه إلى الندب علىالتحاب، ودفع ما نفى ذلك لأنك إذا أحببت أحدًا وأصفيته الود، لم تعرض عنه بوجهك، ولم توله دبرك بل تقبل عليه وتواجهه، وتلقاه بالبشر ومن أبغضته، وليته دبرك، وأعرضت عنه وقد فسرنا هذه المعاني في مواضع سلفت من كتابنا هذا - والحمد لله.

أخبرنا عبد الله بن محمد، حدثنا محمد بن بكر، حدثنا أبو داود، حدثنا عيسى ابن محمد، وابن عوف - وهذا لفظه قالا: حدثنا الفريابي. عن سفيان، عن ثور، عن راشد بن سعد، عن معاوية، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلّم يقول: إنك إن اتبعت عورات الناس، أفسدتهم أو كدت أن تفسدهم.

قال أبو الدرداء: كلمة سمعها معاوية عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلّم نفعه الله بها.

قال أبو عمر: وروى هذا الحديث عبد الرحمن بن جبير ابن نفير، عن أبيه، عن معاوية، عن النبي عليه السلام مثله بمعناه.

حدّثنا عبد الوارث، حدثنا قاسم، حدثنا أبو إسماعيل الترمذي، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم بن العلاء، حدثنا عمرو بن الحارث، حدثني عبد الله بن سالم، عن الزبيدي، قال: حدثني يحيى بن جابر، أن عبد الرحمن بن جبير حدثه أن أباه حدثه أنه سمع معاوية بن أبي سفيان قال: إني سمعت من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلّم كلاما نفعني الله به، سمعته يقول: أعرضوا عن الناس، ألم تر إنك إذا اتبعت الريبة في الناس، أفسدتهم، أو كدت أن تفسدهم.

حدّثنا عبد الله بن محمد، حدثنا محمد بن بكر، حدثنا أبو داود، حدثنا سعيد بن عمرو الحضرمي، حدثنا إسماعيل بن عياش، حدثنا ضمضم بن زرعة، عن شريح بن عبيد، عن جبير ابن نفير، وكثير بن مرة، وعمرو بن الأسود، عن المقدام ابن معدي كرب، وأبي إمامة، عن النبي عليه السلام قال: إن الأمير إذا ابتغى الريبة في الناس أفسدهم.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، قَالَ قَامَ فِينَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِخَمْسِ كَلِمَاتٍ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لاَ يَنَامُ وَلاَ يَنْبَغِي لَهُ أَنْ يَنَامَ يَخْفِضُ الْقِسْطَ وَيَرْفَعُهُ يُرْفَعُ إِلَيْهِ عَمَلُ اللَّيْلِ قَبْلَ عَمَلِ النَّهَارِ وَعَمَلُ النَّهَارِ قَبْلَ عَمَلِ اللَّيْلِ حِجَابُهُ النُّورُ - وَفِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ النَّارُ - لَوْ كَشَفَهُ لأَحْرَقَتْ سُبُحَاتُ وَجْهِهِ مَا انْتَهَى إِلَيْهِ بَصَرُهُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ - وَفِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ حَدَّثَنَا ‏.‏

Abu Musa reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was standing amongst us and he told us five things. He said: Verily the Exalted and Mighty God does not sleep, and it does not befit Him to sleep. He lowers the scale and lifts it. The deeds in the night are taken up to Him before the deeds of the day, and the deeds of the day before the deeds of the night. His veil is the light. In the hadith narrated by Abu Bakr (instead of the word "light" ) it is fire. If he withdraws it (the veil), the splendour of His countenance would consume His creation so far as His sight reaches.
