Turkish forces establish new military post in Zawiya Mountain, Syria’s Idlib



IDLIB, Syria (North Press)x– On Monday, Turkish forces established a new military post in the Zawiya Mountain area, in the south of Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria.

Turkey has established more than 60 posts and military bases since the Turkish intervention in Syria in 2017.
Military sources in the opposition’s National Front for Liberation told North Press on Monday that Turkish bulldozers constructed berms in the village of Kadora after Turkish forces carried out a reconnaissance operation accompanied by groups of the National Front for Liberation.

Kadora is 1500 meters away from government-held areas, and it belongs to the city of Ma’arat al-Nu’man in the eastern part of Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib.

The source added that the Turkish forces deployed tanks, vehicles, and heavy logistical equipment in the vicinity of the newly established point in the village of Kadora in addition to dozens of soldiers.

After Syrian government forces took control of areas in the northern countryside of Hama and southern countryside of Idlib, 12 Turkish posts in the de-escalation zone fell under siege.

Reports stated that Turkey sent more than 12,000 Turkish soldiers, as well as 9,000 military vehicles to the de-escalation zoon subjected to the ceasefire agreement between Moscow and Ankara.
