Pattaya Traffic Control officers called for police backup on the morning of Saturday, 14th March near their police box at Soi 8 on Pattaya Second Road. The reason was that a foreign man, later identified as 25 year old Dennis Tagga from The Netherlands had apparently gone crazy at a nearby restaurant. According to a female employee at the restaurant, the man, wearing only a pair of shorts, walked in and sat down at a table, but when she approached him, he looked like he was high on drugs. He remained silent for about 5 minutes and when asked what he wanted, he stood up and began cursing everyone and began breaking up the surrounding furniture. Over 20 officers and volunteers arrived and finally got the man under control and taken back to the police station, leaving a few officers punched and bruised during the exercise. Then the manager of a hotel where the tourist was staying came to the police station to file a report that the Dutchman had destroyed furniture in his hotel before jumping from the 3rd floor balcony of the room onto sandy ground, before going on a drug induced rampage in the area. He is being detained to face many charges, and the FPV are helping police as the Dutch Embassy is notified about the incident.
