MILAN - Andrea Poli has signed for Inter. The midfielder, who was born in 1989 and is one of the most significant players to have emerged in Italian football in recent years (with 36 appearances for his country at Under-17 and Under-21 levels), has officially joined the Nerazzurri squad. The loan agreement, with an option to buy outright, with U.C. Sampdoria has just been signed and the player's contract will run until 30 June 2016 (should the rights be acquired).

Inter have announced the arrival of Andrea Poli on loan from Serie B side Sampdoria, and have confirmed that they have an option to buy him permanently in 2012.

Poli's transfer has long been on the horizon and it has now come to fruition after terms were agreed between the clubs on Monday afternoon.

The initial agreement is for a loan until next summer when Massimo Moratti's side will have a right to sign the 21-year-old on a long-term deal.

Financial details have not been disclosed, but a statement on the club's official website reads:

"Andrea Poli is Inter's. The midfielder, one of the most important young players in Italian football, is now part of the squad. Inter have defined the transfer with U.C Sampdoria with the formula of a loan which includes the right to buy him permanently.

"The player has signed a contract until 2016 in case the permanent option is taken up."

While no figures were released, previous reports have suggested Inter may sign Poli for €6 million if he makes over 25 appearances for them this season.

Poli is the latest player to arrive at San Siro following Diego Forlan's earlier announcement that he was on his way to Italy after leaving Atletico Madrid.
