KALAYA: Four schoolgoing children were killed and three others sustained injuries when militants opened fire on them in Orakzai Agency on Tuesday.
Also, six militants were killed when jet fighters hit their hideouts in Saidkhel Baba village.Tribal sources said the students of the Government High School, Utmankhel, were on their way to school in the morning when the militants opened fire on them near Zahidra, leaving four of them dead and three others injured.
Soon after the incident, the armed residents of Kalaya, Utmankhel, Qalat, Manikhel, Ibrahimzai and Merobak exchanged heavy gunfire with the militants, which continued for three hours.
The Lashkar attacked the hideouts of the militants, forcing them to escape from the area. The sources said a militant was killed in an exchange of fire between the Lashkar and militants.
