Barhain Beauty Won Miss Arab Title

The charm of beauty pageant is not restricted to western countries only. Now modern Arab beauties behind the hijab’s, naqab’s and burqa’s are coming out to show the world that they are not lagging behind in any aspect with the rest of the ladies of the world. The second Miss Arab World contest has taken place in Egypt, with the participation from about 19 countries. The participants came from 16 Arab countries, including Egypt, Lebanon, Sudan, Iraq, Libya and Palestine.
Wafa Yaqoop, a 23-year-old teacher from the Law Faculty of Bahrain University made her country proud to won crown of Miss Arab World 2007 while the first runner-up was 25-year-old Miss Egypt Shaimma Mansour and Miss Lebanon Abeer Layous, 23, became the second runner-up. Miss Arab contest has started in 2006. It was held in Egypt’s Red Sea resort Sharm el-Sheikh.
To participate in Miss Arab contest world you should be not be shorter than 170 cm with age between 18 and 25 years. You have to provide your one Close up/Portrait, one 1 Full Length photograph and one photograph in sports wear.
I feel this contest will provide a big platform to women of restrictive cultures to present themselves with pride and freedom. May be in two three years we can witness these gorgeous Arab ladies dancing with Saif, Salman , Abhishakh, Sharukh in Bollywood movies. Till then let’s wait and watch!
