Morocco Dismantles Terrorist Cell in Casablanca
Casablanca, Nov. 15 - Moroccan security services dismantled a terrorist cell known as "Jamaat Attawhid Oua Al Jihad Fi Al Maghrib," police revealed here Tuesday.
According to the same source, 13 members of the cell, all Moroccans, were arrested in Casablanca and brought before justice.
Morocco has been on alert since 2003 when suicide attacks killed 45 people in Casablanca. More than 3,200 people have been arrested since then on suspicion of terrorist activity. Many have been released.
The Casablanca-based Attawhid is the second group to be dismantled by security forces in Morocco since they dismantled in August Ansar el Mehdi, which vowed to turn the kingdom into an Islamic state.
