Existence of “Mermaids” and Rulings Regarding them!



Shaikh al-Fawzaan hafidahu Allah :


بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

It is known that the ocean fish that live exclusively in the seas and oceans are permissible to eat due to the hadith, “هو الطهور ماؤه الحل ميتته”, “It is pure and purifying its water [i.e. the seas] and its dead animals are permissible to eat”[i.e. that which dies in the oceans from its animals exclusive to living within it can be eaten even without slaughtering], with that regard Shaikh Saleh al-Fawzaan was asked about the entity recognised and known as the “mermaid” and the ruling upon it in terms of hunting it and eating it since it is also from the fish of the sea etc.

Questioner, “Shaikh, some experts and specialists in sea-life and fish mention that there is a fish that has a head like the head of a woman, and she has hair and a face like a woman, so is it permissible to eat it…and that is what they term as the “mermaid”?

Shaikh al-Fawzaan, “There is the “human of the ocean”, there is something from a type of fish upon the appearance of humans, they call it the “ocean human” [otherwise termed as “mermaid”] and it can be eaten, it is from the items that can be caught and eaten from the sea, yes, even if it was upon the appearance of a man or woman”.

It is important this issue is understood properly, the question may be detailed, however the Shaikh states, “there is something from a type of fish upon the appearance of humans”. This therefore does not dictate in any way that an individual should be confused by the common perceptions of mermaids portrayed through stories and their likes of almost actual human women who are completely and fully a woman from the upper body and completely fish like lower body, and that they talk, and that they are of human size etc etc… none of that is confirmed by the Shaikh here. Rather he states there are fish that resemble the human, similar in appearance in some ways hence known as “insaan ul bahr” [sea-human], and that is similar to what some of the fuqahaa mentioned in their books in earlier times, i.e. of a type of fish having some form of resemblance to human features…essentially it is a fish!

Question: I read in a local newspaper that eating fish without slaughtering them is considered Haram (prohibited); is this correct? Bear in mind that everyone in the Islamic and Arab communities eats fish without slaughtering them.

Answer:

What you read about the obligation of slaughtering fish is not correct. It is permissible to eat fish without slaughtering them, because when the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked about purification with sea water, he said (peace be upon him), “Its water is a purifier and its Maytah (dead sea creatures) are Halal.”

Question 3:

Some of the fish caught by fishermen have been partially eaten by bigger ones while they are in the net or on the fishhook. When the fishermen go to the shops to sell the fish, they often have around twenty fish heads or half fish, and they sell them telling the fish shop owners that the fish were eaten by sea lions.

Some people say that it is not permissible to eat sea lion's leftovers. Is it permissible to eat these fish or not? Please advise us on this, may Allah reward you with the best!

Answer:

There is nothing wrong in eating fish, some of which has been eaten while it is on the fishhook before coming out of the sea, as it is lawful to eat the Maytah (unslaughtered dead animals) from the sea. This is according to the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him), “Two (types of) Maytah and two (types of) blood are made Halal (lawful) for us. The two Maytah are fish and locusts.”

Answer:

All types of fish are Halal, including the shark and others, as is understood from the general meaning of Allah’s Saying: Lawful to you is (the pursuit of) water-game and its use for food Also, when the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked about the sea water, he replied, “Its water is a purifier and its Maytah (dead sea creatures) are Halal.”

Remembrance of Allaah for the heart is like water for the fish ..:



Shaikhul Islaam Ibnu Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

Remembrance of Allaah for the heart is like water for the fish, and what will be the state of affairs of the fish when it is separated from water!?

Ibn Mas`ood heeft overgeleverd dat Rasuuloellaah (s.a.s.) zei:


"Er was nooit een Profeet voor mij door Allaah opgewekt uit zijn gemeenschap, of hij had helpers en metgezellen die vast hielden aan zijn sunnah en die zijn bevelen opvolgden.

Dan werden ze opgevolgd door mensen die dingen beweerden die ze niet praktiseerden en die dingen deden die hun niet bevolen waren. Dus degene die jihaad tegen hun doet met zijn hand is een gelovige en degene die jihaad tegen hun doet met zijn tong is een gelovige en degene die jihaad tegen hun doet met zijn hart is een gelovige, want er is in hun hart zelfs niet een mosterdzaadje aan imaan!"

From another of Ibn Taimiyyah's famous words concerning innovators and fighting against them, is the following:

"The one who refutes the innovators is a mujaahid. This is such that Yahyaa Ibn Yahyaa used to say:

'Defending the Sunnah is more virtuous than fighting in Jihaad!"

"So whosoever is a mujaahid in the Way of Allaah, with his tongue, then it is through commanding good and forbidding evil, explaining the Religion, conveying what is found of commands, prohibitions and uprightness in the Qur ’ aan and Sunnah, clarifying the views that oppose that, and refuting those who oppose the Qur'aan and the Sunnah!"

It is not only humans which are possessed! :


It is not only humans which are possessed, but also animals, trees and other objects. By doing this, the evil Jinn hope to make people worship others besides Allaah. The possession of idols is one way to do this.

Not so long ago the world-wide phenomenon of Hindu idols drinking milk, shocked the world. From Bombay to London, Delhi to California, countless idols were lapping up milk! Ganesh [6] the elephant god, Hanuman the monkey god and even Shiva lingam, the male private organ(!), all seemed to guzzle down the milk as if there was no tomorrow!

Unfortunately people were taken in by this (including Muslims) and many flocked to feed (?) the Hindu gods. Anyone who knows about Jinn possession, will undoubtedly know that this is a classic attempt to make people commit shirk (associating partners with Allaah). And it worked, as many people started to worship these lifeless pieces of wood and marble. Anyone with half a brain would say to themselves, ‘why on earth does a god need to be fed?!! Surely if Ganesh, Hanuman or Shiva were divine then they wouldn’t need feeding?’ However, such common sense seemed to be lacking as the Jinns played havoc with these gullible people!

[6] Ganesh, the elephant headed deity, seemed to be the biggest drinker! In fact it didn’t just stop at milk. At the time of these occurrences, a woman in India decided to see if Ganesh would drink anything else – so she offered him whiskey!! And Lo and behold Ganesh drank the Whiskey!!! Suffice to say, the woman was kicked out of India.

Selections from “Essay on the Jinn – Demonic Visions” : Shaikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimuhuAllah):


Those involved in incantations and oaths often swear by some devils to help them against others. Sometimes the evil JINN fulfill their request but frequently they do not, especially when the JINN against whom help is sought is honored among them. Neither the one chanting incantations nor his incantations have any power to force the devils to help them. The reciter of incantations earnestly entreats a being whom he considered great – which may or may not be the case – to harm others who may conceivably be greater. In the case where someone entreats the JINN to harm someone whom the JINN hold in high esteem, they will ignore him. In fact, it may prevent them from even responding at all. Their situations is quite similar to that of humans except that human beings are generally more intelligent, truthful, just and trustworthy while the JINN tend to be ignorant, untruthful, oppressive and treacherous.

Ibn Taymeeyah mentioned the following historical incident concerning al-Hallaaj and a group of his followers,

“Some of them requested some sweets from al-Hallaaj, so he got up and went to a spot a short distance away, then returned with a plateful of sweets. It was later discovered that it had been stolen from a candy shop in Yemen and carried by a devil to that area.”

Ibn Taymeeyah went on to say,

“Incidents similar to this have happened to others who, like al-Hallaaj, also achieved the pinnacle of satanic states, and we know of quite a few such people in our time as well as other times. For instance, there is a person presently residing in Damascus whom the devil used to carry from the Saaliheeyah mountain to villages around Damascus. He would appear out of the air and enter the windows of houses in which people were gathered to witness his ‘miraculous entrance.’”

Ibn Taymeeyah also quoted another mystic master who admitted that he used to fornicate with women and sodomise young boys.

The former mystic master said, “A black dog with two white spots between his eyes would come to me and say, ‘Verily such and such a person has made an oath by you and he will come to you tomorrow to inform you about it. I have already fulfilled his need for your sake.’ The person would then come to him the next day and the Sufi master would reveal the details of his oath to him and how it was fulfilled. The Sufi master went on to say, ‘I used to walk about the city and a black pole with a light on top of it would lead the way.’ ” Ibn Taymeeyah said, “When the Sufi master repented and began to pray, fast, and avoid the forbidden, the black dog went away.”

He also narrated the following about another mystic master who had the aid of devils whom he would despatch to possess people:

“When the family of the possessed would come to him seeking a cure, he would send a message to his demon companion and they would leave the possessed persons, as a result, the Shaykh would be given many dirhams for his services. Sometimes the Jinn would bring him dirhams and food which they stole from people, so much so that the Shaykh would request dates from his devils and they would take them from beehives in which some poeple had hidden their dates. When the beehive owners would look for their dates they would find them gone.”

About yet another mystic, Ibn Taymeeyah relates,

“There was a Shaykh knowledgeable in the religious sciences and Qur’anic recitation to whom the devils came and eventually managed to seduce. They told him that Salaah was no longer required of him and that they would bring him whatever he wished. As soon as he complied with their wishes, they began to bring him a variety of sweets and fruit. This continued until he was advised to repent by some scholars that he visited who were firmly following the Sunnah. He subsequently repented and repaid the owners of the sweets for what he ate while under the influence of the JINN.”

He then went on to say,

“Many of those who call on Shaykhs in time of need saying, ‘O master so and so, or Shaykh so and so, fulfill my need’ have seen an image of the Shaykh saying, ‘I will fulfill your need and put your heart at ease,’ then it fulfills their needs or repels their enemies. In such cases it is a devil taking the Shaykh’s form when they committed Shirk by associating partners with Allaah and calling on others beside Him.”

Ibn Taymeeyah then went on to enumerate similar instances involving himself saying,

“I know of many such incidences even among a group of my companions who called on me in times when they were struck by calamities. One was afraid of the Romans and another of the Tatars. Both of them mentioned that they called out to me, they saw me in the air and I repelled their enemies for them. I informed them that I did not hear their cries nor did I repel their enemies. It was a devil taking my appearance to seduce them when they associated partners with Allaah the Almighty.

Similar incidents have also happened to the students of my contemporaries among the scholars, whereby some of their students have sought refuge in them and have seen them fulfill their needs. The scholars have also denied doing so and indicated that it was in fact the work of devils.”

In another book, Ibn Taymeeyah said,

“I know people whom the plants greet and inform them of their beneficial ingredients, however it is, in fact, Satan who has entered the plants and spoken to them.

I also know of others to whom stones and trees speak saying, “Congratulations, Oh friend of Allaah” and when the people recite Aayatul-Kursee it stops.

I am acquainted with yet others who have gone bird-hunting and the sparrows addressed them saying, “Take me so that the poor may eat me.” Such are cases of the evil JINN possessing the birds. in the same way that others who, while in their house with the doors and vice versa.

He may even be taken through the closed city gates and back again swiftly by the JINN. Lights may shine on him or someone looking like his friend may call on him but, if he recites Aayatul-Kursee continually, it will all dissappear.”

“Some mystics have also said that the JINN showed them something shiny like water and glass in which images or pictures of whatever they sought information would appear and they in turn wold inform people.”

In Majmu al-Fatawa, ibn Taimiya explained some of ways of the devils in tempting people. He wrote;


I know some people whom plants would talk to and tell them of their beneficial ingredients. Actually, Satan who had entered the plant was the one talking. And I know people to whom the bushes and rocks would say, “Welcome, o devoted servant of Allah.” If they read “The Verse of the Throne” (al- Baqarah 255) all of that would stop. I know of some people who go bird hunting and the sparrows and others say to them, “Take me so the poor can eat me.” A Satan had entered the bird and spoken in the same way he enters humans and speaks from them. And some people are in their houses with the doors locked and see themselves outside while they did not open the door and vice-versa. Similar is the case with the city gates. Jinn take them in and out of them quickly. Lights would appear while actually it was Satan appearing like his friend. If they recite “The Verse of the Throne” over and over, all of that stops. [Majmoo al-Fatawa, vol. 11, p. 300].


And ibn Taimiya wrote;


I know of people who are spoken to by something that says, “I am from the commands of Allah”. And he tells the person that he is the Mahdi that the Prophet gave glad tidings of. And he performs supernatural acts for him. For example, if he even thinks of flying with birds or locusts through the air or if he desires them to go to the right or left, they do whatever he wishes. Or if he thinks to get some cattle up or have them sleep or leave, it happens for him without any apparent movement on his part. And they take him to Makkah and back. Someone will be brought to him in a beautiful form and he will be told that it is one of the noble angels who has come to visit him. The man will say to himself, “How [can the angels] look like a beardless youth.” Then he will look up again and find that he has a beard. It will be said to him, “The sign that you are the Mahdi is that you have specific birthmark”. He will look and he will see it. All of that is from the plots of Satan!


Ibn Taimiya also wrote;


The people of misguidance and heresies, those who are ascetic worshippers but not according to the manner prescribed by the Shariah, sometimes have strong influence that draws many to the places of Satan in which is prohibited to pray. This is because the devils descend upon them and the devils talk to them about some matters in the same way they talk to the fortune-tellers. In the same manner, they enter the statues and idols and talk to the worshipper of the idols. And they help them in some of their needs in the same manner they help magicians. In a similar fashion, they help the worshipers of idols , the sun, the moon and the planets when they worship them in a manner they think that are deserving of, of sanctifying them, to dressing and lighting incense for them and so on. Devils, that they call the “spirits of the planets”, descend upon them and meet some of their needs! [Majmoo, vol. 19, p.41.]

De profeet (Allah's vrede en zegeningen zijn met hem) zei: Als Allah subhanahu watahala iets goeds wil doen voor een persoon, laat Hij hem het geloof begrijpen, en natuurlijk wordt kennis verkregen door te leren.'

(Boekhaarie, 1/67).

Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta`Ala) zegt:

"Nodig uit tot de Weg van jouw Heer, met wijsheid en goed onderricht, en wissel met hen van gedachten op de beste wijze. Voorwaar, jouw Heer weet het beste wie van Zijn Weg afgedwaald is en Hij weet beter wie de rechtgeleiden zijn." (soerah an Nahl, aayah 125).

Vraag:

Sommige mensen drijven de spot met degenen die het geloof van Allah praktiseren en beschimpen hen. Wat is het oordeel over deze mensen?

Antwoord:

Alle lof zij Allah en vrede en zegeningen zij met de Boodschapper van Allah.

Degenen die de mensen belachelijk maken die het geloof van Allah praktiseren en Zijn Bevelen uitvoeren, hebben een deel van hypocrisie in zich. Allah, de Verhevene, zegt in de Koran, wat als volgt vertaald kan worden:

"Degenen die beledigende aanmerkingen maken over de vrijwillige gevers van liefdadigheid en over degenen die vanwege hun armoede niets kunnen vinden (om uit te geven), tenzij met de grootste moeite, en die dan de spot met hen drijven: Allah zal de spot op hen terugwerpen en voor hen is er een pijnlijke bestraffing!”

(Soerat at-Tawbah: 79)

Als de bespotters de praktiserende gelovigen bespotten vanwege datgene wat zij aanhangen, dan bespotten zij de Wetgeving van Allah. En het bespotten hiervan is niets anders dan Koefr (ongeloof)!

Bespotten zij hen echter om hun persoonlijkheid en niet om het feit dat zij de Soennah van de Profeet (vrede zij met hem) praktiseren, dan treden zij hierdoor niet buiten het geloof. Omdat hierbij een persoonlijkheid bespot wordt en niet de daden, maar zij begaan wel degelijk een zeer grote fout door het bespotten van een persoon!

Het is vereist dat men degene die het geloof van Allah praktiseert aanmoedigt en verbetert als hij een fout begaat, totdat hij terugkeert tot de juiste weg.

Volgens Ibn Umar [radhiya Allahu ‘anhu] heeft de Profeet [sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa salam] gezegd:

“Er komt een tijd waarin de mensen zich in de moskeeën zullen verzamelen en er zullen bidden terwijl er onder hen niet één enkele echte gelovige is!” [Hadeet bij Haakim in zijn Mustadrak. Hij zegt dat hij rechtsgeldig is en hij voldoet aan de voorwaarden van de Saheeh Bukhari en Muslim. Ad-Dahabi bevestigt dit].

Volgens Abu Hurairah [radhiya Allahu ‘anhu]: “Er zal een tijd komen waarin men de Quran zal reciteren terwijl het lezen niet verder reikt dan het strottenhoofd [i.c. het zal het hart niet raken] en dan zal er een tijd komen waarin de Kafier, de Munafiq en de Mushrik met de gelovige redetwisten terwijl hij de argumenten van deze laatste [i.c. de gelovige] zal gebruiken!” [Bij Hakim. Hij verklaart de keten rechtsgeldig, bevestigt door Ad-Dahabi. Zie Al-Mustadrak 4/451].

Al-Khalil bin Ahmad, he teaches us the types of people and the benefit we could present to them:

“Men are four types. There is a man who knows, but is not aware that he knows; this type is unaware and you need to alert him. There is a man who does not know and knows that he does not know; this type is ignorant and you should teach him. There is a man who knows and knows that he knows; this type is a scholar, so learn from him. There is a man who does not know, but he is unaware that he does not know, this type is wicked, so beware of him!”

Mensen en djins die voor de Hel zijn geschapen:

"En voorzeker, Wij hebben velen van de djin`s en de mensen voor de Hel geschapen. Zij bezitten harten waarmee zij niet begrijpen en zij bezitten ogen waarmee zij niet zien en zij bezitten oren waarmee zij niet horen, zij zijn degenen die als het vee zijn. Zij dwalen zelfs nog erger! Zij zijn degenen die de achtelozen zijn!" Q. 7:179 .

Ibn Mas'ud [Radhiya Allahu ‘anhu] heeft gezegd: “Wees op jullie hoede voor het overbodige in jullie taalgebruik. Voor de mens volstaat het aantal woorden dat hem laat bereiken wat hij nodig heeft!”

Hij zei ook:

“Degene die de grootste zonden zullen dragen op de Dag van de Opstanding zijn zij die onbezonnen verkeerde dingen hebben gezegd!” [Overgeleverd door At-Tabarani, Al-Hafez Al-'Iraqi heeft gezegd dat haar keten authentiek is, zie Al-Ihya nr. 1552]





What is common between a Munaafiq, a Faasiq and a Hizbee?!


بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

Shaikh al-Fawzaan حفظه الله said:

“No one engages in defaming the scholars, who are firm upon the truth, except for one of the three:

1) A Munaafiq (hypocrite) whose hypocrisy is well known!

2) Or a Faasiq (evil doer) who hates the scholars because they prevent him from doing evil deeds!

3) Or a misguided Hizbee (fanatic/zealot) who hates the scholars because they do not agree with his Hizbiyyah (partisanship) and his deviant ideology!”

Hypocrisy Today! :


Hudhayfah b. Al-Yamān – Allāh be pleased with him – said:


The munāfiqūn (hypocrites) amongst you today are worse than those in the time of Allāh’s Messenger – Allāh’s praise and peace be upon him.


He was asked, “How is that o Abū ‘Abdillāh”?


He replied:


Because those [in the time of the Prophet] used to hide their nifāq (hypocrisy), whereas the hypocrites of today commit [hypocrisy] openly!

The Faces of Nifâq! :

It is reported from Al-Hasan Al-Basrî – Allâh have mercy on him – that he said:

It used to be said: it is part of al-nifâq (hypocrisy) to be inwardly different from what you are on the outside, to say one thing and do another and to be different in how you enter and how you leave. And the root of al-nifâq is lying!

The Forms Devils Can Take ! :


Ibn Taymia recorded concerning al-Hallaaj:

“He was a magician, and sometimes devils would serve him. He was with some of his companions on Abu Qabis Mountain. They asked him for some sweets. He went off to a place close by and brought a plate of sweets. Later it was determined that those sweets has been stolen from a store in Yemen and a devil had carried it to that place.!


And Ibn Taymia also wrote:


Things like that happen to many, besides al-Hallaaj, who live evil lives. We know of many such people during our time and other times. Like the man who is now [during ibn Taymia’s time] in Damascus. Satan used to carry him from Salihiya Mountains to villages around Damascus. He would be carried through the air to the windows of houses and enter the houses with the people seeing him. He would come at night to the Small Gate [one of the six gates around Damascus at that time] and he and his companions would be seen there. And he is one of the most wicked people. One of them was in a fortified prison in a city called Al-Shahida. He would go through the air to the top of a mountain and people would see him. A devil used to carry him. He was a highway robber!




Most such people are leaders of evil. One of them was called al-Barsha Abu al-Majib. His tent was pitched for him once on a dark night. Bread was made in the manner of an offering. They did not mention Allah. And there was none among them who would mention Allah nor had they any book containing Allah’s name. Then al-Barsha rose in the air. They watched him and heard him speak to Satan and heard Satan speak to him. Whoever laughed or stole some of the bread would be hit without knowing who hit him. Then Satan informed them of some things they had asked about. Then he ordered them to sacrifice a cow, horse or similar animal. [He told them] to strangle the animal and not to mention the name of Allah upon it. When they would do that, he would then fulfil their needs.


Ibn Taimiya also mentioned a Sufi sheikh:


Who said about himself that he used to commit adultery and sodomize boys. He said, “A black dog with two white spots between his eyes would say to me, ‘So and so will come to you about an oath he made by you and I have fulfilled his need on your behalf.’ Then the person would come with an oath and that disbelieving sheikh would already tell him about it.


And ibn Taimiya mentioned from the same man, “If anyone desired me to change anything, like glue, then I would speak until I lost my senses and then I would find the glue in my hand or my mouth and not know who put it there.” And he said, “ When I walked at night, I would have a black staff with a light in front of me.” Ibn Taymia said, “When that shaikh repented and started to pray, fast and avoid the forbidden acts. The black dog left him. And the alterations stopped and he could not produce glue or anything else.”


Ibn Taimiya also mentioned another shaikh who would send his devils to posses certain people. The family of those people would come to the shaikh asking him to rescue their relatives. Then that shaikh would tell his devils to leave that person. The family would then pay that shaikh lots of money for his services. Sometimes the jinn would bring the shaikh money and food that they had stolen from people. Some people had some figs. The shaikh asked his devils for some figs and they brought those figs to him. When the owners went to their containers, they found the figs gone.


Ibn Taimiya mentions another person who was busy in acquiring knowledge. The devils came to him to deceive him. They said to him, “We have made the prayer no longer obligatory on you. And we will bring you whatever you need.” Then they would bring him sweets or fruits. This continued until he met some true scholars of the sunnah who asked him to repent. Then he paid the owners of the sweets for the sweets he had eaten while being tempted by the devils! (All of the above quotes are from ibn Taimiya, Jaami al-Rasaail-, pp. 190-194).












Those who Take The Devil as an Ally ! :



Allaah, the Most High, said, “And [mention] when We said to the angels, “Prostrate to Adam,” and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from [i.e., disobeyed] the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an exchange.” (Surah Kahf 18:50)


Commenting on this aayah, one of the things Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahu Allah) said was:


“It is almost as though beneath this address there is an astonishing, delicate reprimand and it is that: I showed enmity to Iblees because he didn’t prostrate to your father Aadam with My Angels, so the enmity [I showed] was on your behalf, and then the final result of this enmity [which I showed on your behalf] is that between yourselves and him–you [went and] sealed a pact of reconciliation!”

Questioner, “Shaikh, some experts and specialists in sea-life and fish mention that there is a fish that has a head like the head of a woman, and she has hair and a face like a woman, so is it permissible to eat it…and that is what they term as the “mermaid”?

Shaikh al-Fawzaan, “There is the “human of the ocean”, there is something from a type of fish upon the appearance of humans, they call it the “ocean human” [otherwise termed as “mermaid”] and it can be eaten, it is from the items that can be caught and eaten from the sea, yes, even if it was upon the appearance of a man or woman”.

Don't speak about ALLAH without 'Ilm - Ibn Qayyim!:

Al-Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim said:

“And indeed Allaah -Subhaanahu - prohibited speaking about Him without knowledge in giving fatwaa and issuing judicial rulings, and He made it from the greatest of the muharramaat (the prohibited matters). Rather He placed it in the highest level from them. So He said- Ta'aala :

قُلْ إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ رَبِّيَ الفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَاوَمَا بَطَنَ وَالإِثْمَ وَالْبَغْيَ بِغَيْرِ الحَقِّ وَأَن تُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِ سُلْطَاناً وَأَن تَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ مَا لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ (33)


“Say (O Muhammad): "(But) indeed the things that my Lord has forbidden are al-Fawaahish (lewd, evil sins of every kind) whether committed openly or secretly, al-Ithm (sins of all kinds), ath-Thulm (unrighteous oppression), joining partners (in worship) with Allaah for which He has sent down no authority for, and that you speak about Allaah that which you have no knowledge of." [al-A'raaf (7):33]

So He arranged the muharramaat in four levels, and He began with the least of them, and it is al-Fawaahish (lewd, evil sins of every kind) then secondly He followed with what is more severe than it in prohibition and it is al-Ithm (sins of all kinds) and ath-Thulm (unrighteous oppression), then mentioned thirdly what is greater than them in prohibition and it is shirk with Him - Subhaanahu . Then He followed fourthly with what is more severe in prohibition than all of that, and it is speaking about Him without knowledge. And this is general to speaking about Him -Subhaanahu - without knowledge in His Asmaa’ was-Sifaat (Beautiful Names and Perfect Attributes) and His Af’aal (Actions), His Deen, and His Shar’ (legislation)…!”

[I’laam al-Muwaaqqi’een]

Shaykh-ul-Islam ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

“It is not for anyone to raise some person up, and call the Ummah to follow his path, treating all of those who follow him as allies, and all of those who do not as enemies, if that person is other than the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallaam). Likewise, it is not for anyone to raise up for (the Ummah) some opinion or quote from the words of some person, and treat all those who agree with it as allies, and all of those who do not agree with it as enemies, if those words are not from the speech of Allaah (subhanahu `wa ‘taala), or from the speech of His Messenger, or from ( ijma) those matters that the entire Ummah has agreed upon. Rather, this is from the behavior of the people of bid’ah who put up some person or some opinion and divide the Ummah with it. They ally themselves to those who agree, while treating as enemies all who do not!”

Ibn Mas`ood heeft overgeleverd dat Rasuuloellaah (s.a.s.) zei:


"Er was nooit een Profeet voor mij door Allaah opgewekt uit zijn gemeenschap, of hij had helpers en metgezellen die vast hielden aan zijn sunnah en die zijn bevelen opvolgden.

Dan werden ze opgevolgd door mensen die dingen beweerden die ze niet praktiseerden en die dingen deden die hun niet bevolen waren. Dus degene die jihaad tegen hun doet met zijn hand is een gelovige en degene die jihaad tegen hun doet met zijn tong is een gelovige en degene die jihaad tegen hun doet met zijn hart is een gelovige, want er is in hun hart zelfs niet een mosterdzaadje aan imaan!"

From another of Ibn Taimiyyah's famous words concerning innovators and fighting against them, is the following:

"The one who refutes the innovators is a mujaahid. This is such that Yahyaa Ibn Yahyaa used to say:

'Defending the Sunnah is more virtuous than fighting in Jihaad!"

And he also said:

"So whosoever is a mujaahid in the Way of Allaah, with his tongue, then it is through commanding good and forbidding evil, explaining the Religion, conveying what is found of commands, prohibitions and uprightness in the Qur ’ aan and Sunnah, clarifying the views that oppose that, and refuting those who oppose the Qur'aan and the Sunnah!"

Imaam Al-Barbahaari rahimahu Allah zei:


"De basis waarop de Jamaa'ah gebouwd is zijn de Metgzellen van Muhammad ﷺ. Zij zijn Ahlus-Sunnah Wal-Jamaa'ah [1] dus iedereen die niet neemt van hen is afgedwaald en innoveerde [2] en elke innovatie is een dwaling en dwaling en zijn mensen zijn in het Vuur [3]." [Sharh As-Sunnah]

[1]: “De allereerste Moslims van de uitgewekenen [Muhaajirun] en de Ansaar en degenen die hen volgden in goede daden: Allah heeft welbehagen aan hen en zij hebben welbehagen aan Hem. Hij heeft voor hen Tuinen [in het Paradijs] bereid waar onder de rivieren stromen, zij zijn daarin eeuwig levenden. Dat is de geweldige overwinning.” [ Surah At-Tawbah 9:100]

De Profeet ﷺ zei: “De besten onder jullie is mijn generatie en dan degenen die hen volgen en dan degenen die hen volgen.” [Sahieh Muslim]

[2]: De Profeet ﷺ zei:

“Diegene van jullie die lang zal leven, zal veel verschillen [in uitspraken, handelingen en overtuigingen] zien. Houdt je dus vast aan ‘mijn Soennah’ en aan ‘de Soennah van de rechtgeleide khaliefen’, bijt je daar stevig aan vast met je achterste kiezen. En wees gewaarschuwd voor nieuwe toevoegingen, want iedere toevoeging is een Bid’ah [innovatie] en iedere Bid’ah is een dwaling en iedere dwaling leidt naar het Hellevuur.” [Aboe Dawoed, At-Tirmidhi, Ahmad, ibn Maajah en anderen]

[3]: De Profeet ﷺ zou in zijn khutbah zeggen: "De meest waarachtige toespraak is het Boek van Allah. De beste weg is de weg van Muhammad. De slechtste zaken zijn de nieuwe uitgevonden zaken en elke nieuwe uitgevonden zaak is een innovatie en elke innovatie is een dwaling en elke dwaling is in het Helelvuur." [An-Nasaa'i]

Abu Shaamah zei: "Het bevel om zich vast te houden aan de Jamaa'ah betekent het vasthouden aan de waarheid en zijn volgers; zelfs als dezen die vasthouden aan de waarheid weinigen zijn en dezen die het tegengaan met veel zijn; aangezien de waarheid datgene is waarop de Jamaa'ah van de eerste tijd van de Profeet en Zijn Metgezellen waren. Er wordt geen aandacht besteed aan de mensen van ijdel [die] na hen [komen]." [Al-Baa'ith 'alal-Bid'ah Wal-Huwaadith pg.19]

Tekenen van het UUR! :


Volgens Ibn Umar [radhiya Allahu ‘anhu] heeft de Profeet [sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa salam] gezegd:

“Er komt een tijd waarin de mensen zich in de moskeeën zullen verzamelen en er zullen bidden terwijl er onder hen niet één enkele echte gelovige is.” [Hadeet bij Haakim in zijn Mustadrak. Hij zegt dat hij rechtsgeldig is en hij voldoet aan de voorwaarden van de Saheeh Bukhari en Muslim. Ad-Dahabi bevestigt dit].

Volgens Abu Hurairah [radhiya Allahu ‘anhu]: “Er zal een tijd komen waarin men de Quran zal reciteren terwijl het lezen niet verder reikt dan het strottenhoofd [i.c. het zal het hart niet raken] en dan zal er een tijd komen waarin de Kafier, de Munafiq en de Mushrik met de gelovige redetwisten terwijl hij de argumenten van deze laatste [i.c. de gelovige] zal gebruiken!” [Bij Hakim. Hij verklaart de keten rechtsgeldig, bevestigt door Ad-Dahabi. Zie Al-Mustadrak 4/451].

Al-Khalil bin Ahmad, he teaches us the types of people and the benefit we could present to them:

“Men are four types. There is a man who knows, but is not aware that he knows; this type is unaware and you need to alert him. There is a man who does not know and knows that he does not know; this type is ignorant and you should teach him. There is a man who knows and knows that he knows; this type is a scholar, so learn from him. There is a man who does not know, but he is unaware that he does not know, this type is wicked, so beware of him!”

Mensen en djins die voor de Hel zijn geschapen:

"En voorzeker, Wij hebben velen van de djin`s en de mensen voor de Hel geschapen. Zij bezitten harten waarmee zij niet begrijpen en zij bezitten ogen waarmee zij niet zien en zij bezitten oren waarmee zij niet horen, zij zijn degenen die als het vee zijn. Zij dwalen zelfs nog erger! Zij zijn degenen die de achtelozen zijn!" Q. 7:179 .

Imam Ahmad ordered the jinn to leave and they responded!:


It is related that Imam Ahmad was sitting in his mosque. There came to him one of his companions from the caliph al-Mutawakil. The man said to Ahmad, “In the house of the commander of the Believers, there is a slave-girl who is possessed. He sent me to you for you to pray for her recovery.” Ahmad gave him a pair of wooden shoes and said, “Go to the house of the commander of the believers and sit at the head of the slave girl and say to the jinn, Ahmad has said to you, “Which do you prefer: leaving this slave-girl or being struck by these shoes seventy times!?”

The man went with the shoes to the slave girl and he did as he was instructed. He heard from the tongue of the slave-girl, “Listening and obedience is for Ahmad. If he were to order us to leave Iraq, we would leave it! He obeys Allah and for whoever obeys Allah, everything is obedient to him!” It left the slave girl. She became better and afterwards she gave birth to children. Then Ahmad died and the jinn returned again to the slave girl. The commander called the same companion again to come. He came with the same shoes and said to the jinn, “Leave or else I will strike you with this shoe!” The jinn said, “I will not leave nor will I obey you but Ahmad ibn Hanbal obeyed Allah and we were ordered to obey him!!!”

Ibn Abbaas vertelde dat de Boodschapper van Allah (Salla Allahu 3alaihi wa Sallam) zei:

"In de toekomst zullen volkeren ontstaan van wie de gezichten mensenlijk zijn maar in hun harten zullen zij satanisch zijn. Ze zullen zich laten begaan in slechtheid. Als je bij ze bent zullen zij zich verdraagzaam voordoen, maar zodra je weg bent, zullen ze je beslechten. Wanneer ze praten zullen ze liegen en als je hen iets toevertrouwt, zullen ze dat schenden. Hun pubers zullen onbeschoft zijn en de jongeren arrogant. De ouderen zullen verzaken om het goede aan te bevelen en het slechte te verbieden.

Het is verkeerd om bij hen te willen horen, want zij zijn niet de mannen naar hun leeftijd. Zij zijn zeer gierig en zullen hard zijn voor zachtmoedige mensen. Degene die het goede aanbeveelt en van het slechte wil afhouden is bij hen afgeschreven. Bij hen zijn de ware gelovigen de verstotenen en de onrechtvaardigen hun eerwaarden. Ze zullen de soennah als bida'ah (innovatie) beschouwen en de bida'ah als soennah. In die tijd zal het kwaad van de slechtste persoon, hun bezigheid zijn. De goeden onder hen zullen voortdurend smeekbeden verrichten, maar hun smeekbeden zullen niet aanvaard worden!"

De Suhaba [Radhiya Allahu ‘anhum] vroegen: “Boodschapper van Allah, we weten wie de babbelzieken en de hoogdravers zijn, maar wat betekend mooipraters [mutafayqihun]?

Aboe Horayra ‘Abder-Rahman Ibn Sachr(Allahs welbehagen zij met hem) heeft gezegd:Ik hoorde de Boodschapper van Allah(Allahs zegen en vrede zij met hem)zeggen:

‘Jullie moeten je ver houden van datgene wat ik jullie verbied.Verricht zo veel mogelijk als jullie kunnen van datgene wat ik jullie opgedragen heb. Door hun vele vragen en meningsverschillen met hun Profeten zijn degenen die voor jullie leefden, te gronde gegaan!'

"De hypocrieten zeggen: "Wij geloven in Allaah en in de Boodschapper (Muhammad) en wij gehoorzamen" en dan keert een deel van hen zich er daarna van af en zij zijn geen gelovigen!" Surat An-Noor, 47.

"Maar zij die ongelovig zijn, keren zich af van hetgeen waar zij voor waren gewaarschuwd!" Surat Al-Ahqaaf, 3.

"En onder de mensen zijn er sommigen (hypocrieten) die zeggen: "Wij geloven in Allaah en de Laatste Dag", terwijl zij in werkelijkheid niet geloven! Zij denken dat zij Allaah en degenen die geloven kunnen bedriegen terwijl zij enkel zichzelf bedriegen maar zij beseffen (dit) niet! In hun harten is er een ziekte (van twijfel en hypocrisie) en Allaah heeft hun ziekte vermeerderd! Een pijnlijke kwelling is voor hen omdat zij altijd logen. En wanneer er tegen hen wordt gezegd: "Sticht geen onheil op aarde", dan zeggen zij: "Wij zijn slechts vredestichters!" Waarlijk, zij zijn degenen die onheil stichten maar zij beseffen dat niet! En wanneer er tegen hen (de hypocrieten) wordt gezegd: "Geloof, zoals de mensen (de volgelingen van Muhammad, salla Allaahu ´alayhi wa sallam: de An saar en de Muhaajireen) hebben geloofd, dan zeggen zij: "Zullen wij dan geloven zoals de dwazen hebben geloofd?!" Waarlijk, zij zijn de dwazen maar zij weten (het) niet. En wanneer zij degenen die geloven ontmoeten, dan zeggen zij: "Wij geloven", maar wanneer zij alleen zijn met hun Shayaateen (duivels, de polytheisten en de hypocrieten), dan zeggen zij: "Waarlijk, wij zijn met jullie. Waarlijk, wij dreven slechts de spot." Allaah drijft de spot met hem en doet hen toenemen in hun slechtheid zodat zij (als) blind(en) blijven voortgaan! Zij zijn degenen die dwaling hebben aangekocht (in de plaats) van leiding maar hun handel was vruchteloos en zij waren niet geleid! Hun gelijkenis is zoals de gelijkenis van degene die een vuurtje heeft aangestoken maar dan, wanneer het om hem heen oplichtte, nam Allaah hun licht weg en liet (Hij) hen achter in de duisternis! (Zodat) zij niet konden zien. Zij zijn doof, stom en blind dus zij keren niet terug (naar het Rechte Pad)! Of zoals een regenstorm vanuit de Hemel, waarin duisternis, donder en bliksem schuilt... Zij stoppen hun vingers in hun oren om de angstaanjagende donderklap weg te houden uit angst voor de dood. Maar Allaah heeft de ongelovigen altijd omringd (met andere woorden zal Allaah hen allemaal bij elkaar drijven). De bliksem neemt bijna hun zicht weg, elke keer dat het naar hen flitst. Zij lopen daarin en wanneer de duisternis hen bedekt, staan zij stil. En als Allaah het had gewild, dan had Hij hun gehoor en zicht weg kunnen nemen. Waarlijk, Allaah heeft de Macht over alle Zaken." Surat Al-Baqarah, 8-20.

"En toen hij de Tuin binnentrad terwijl hij verkeerde in een toestand (van trots en ongeloof), onrechtvaardig jegens zichzelf, zei hij: "Ik denk niet dat dit ooit zal vergaan en ik denk niet dat het Uur ooit zal komen en als ik werkelijk terug zal worden gebracht naar mijn Heer (op de Dag der Wederopstanding), dan zal ik zeker iets beters vinden dan dit wanneer ik tot Hem terugkeer!" Tijdens het gesprek met hem zei zijn Metgezel: "Geloof jij dan niet in Degene Die jou heeft geschapen uit zand (jouw vader Aadam) en vervolgens uit een Nutfah (een mengeling van sperma van de man en afscheiding van de vrouw) en jou daarna tot een man heeft gemaakt? Maar wat mij betreft: (ik geloof) dat Hij Allaah is, mijn Heer en niemand zal ik vereenzelvigen als deelgenoot met mijn Heer!"
Surat Al-Kahf: 35-38.

Hij is het, Die u het Boek heeft nedergezonden;

Er zijn verzen in, die onoverdrachtelijk zijn, zij vormen de grondslag van het Boek, en er zijn andere (verzen), die zinnebeeldig zijn. Maar degenen in wier hart dwaling is, volgen die, welke zinnebeeldig (bedoeld) zijn en zoeken tweedracht en de verkeerde uitleg! En niemand kent de juiste uitleg dan Allah en diegenen, die vast gegrondvest zijn in kennis, die zeggen: "Wij geloven er in; het geheel is van onze Heer"; en niemand trekt er lering uit, dan zij, die begrip hebben!

En wanneer er tegen hen wordt gezegd: "Sticht geen onheil op aarde", dan zeggen zij: "Wij zijn slechts vredestichters!" Waarlijk, zij zijn degenen die onheil stichten maar zij beseffen dat niet! En wanneer er tegen hen (de hypocrieten) wordt gezegd: "Geloof, zoals de mensen (de volgelingen van Muhammad, salla Allaahu ´alayhi wa sallam: de An saar en de Muhaajireen) hebben geloofd, dan zeggen zij: "Zullen wij dan geloven zoals de dwazen hebben geloofd?!" Waarlijk, zij zijn de dwazen maar zij weten (het) niet. En wanneer zij degenen die geloven ontmoeten, dan zeggen zij: "Wij geloven", maar wanneer zij alleen zijn met hun Shayaateen (duivels, de polytheisten en de hypocrieten), dan zeggen zij: "Waarlijk, wij zijn met jullie. Waarlijk, wij dreven slechts de spot." Allaah drijft de spot met hem en doet hen toenemen in hun slechtheid zodat zij (als) blind(en) blijven voortgaan! Zij zijn degenen die dwaling hebben aangekocht (in de plaats) van leiding maar hun handel was vruchteloos en zij waren niet geleid! Hun gelijkenis is zoals de gelijkenis van degene die een vuurtje heeft aangestoken maar dan, wanneer het om hem heen oplichtte, nam Allaah hun licht weg en liet (Hij) hen achter in de duisternis! (Zodat) zij niet konden zien. Zij zijn doof, stom en blind dus zij keren niet terug (naar het Rechte Pad)! Of zoals een regenstorm vanuit de Hemel, waarin duisternis, donder en bliksem schuilt... Zij stoppen hun vingers in hun oren om de angstaanjagende donderklap weg te houden uit angst voor de dood. Maar Allaah heeft de ongelovigen altijd omringd (met andere woorden zal Allaah hen allemaal bij elkaar drijven). De bliksem neemt bijna hun zicht weg, elke keer dat het naar hen flitst. Zij lopen daarin en wanneer de duisternis hen bedekt, staan zij stil. En als Allaah het had gewild, dan had Hij hun gehoor en zicht weg kunnen nemen. Waarlijk, Allaah heeft de Macht over alle Zaken."
Surat Al-Baqarah, 8-20.

"En toen hij de Tuin binnentrad terwijl hij verkeerde in een toestand (van trots en ongeloof), onrechtvaardig jegens zichzelf, zei hij: "Ik denk niet dat dit ooit zal vergaan en ik denk niet dat het Uur ooit zal komen en als ik werkelijk terug zal worden gebracht naar mijn Heer (op de Dag der Wederopstanding), dan zal ik zeker iets beters vinden dan dit wanneer ik tot Hem terugkeer!" Tijdens het gesprek met hem zei zijn Metgezel: "Geloof jij dan niet in Degene Die jou heeft geschapen uit zand (jouw vader Aadam) en vervolgens uit een Nutfah (een mengeling van sperma van de man en afscheiding van de vrouw) en jou daarna tot een man heeft gemaakt? Maar wat mij betreft: (ik geloof) dat Hij Allaah is, mijn Heer en niemand zal ik vereenzelvigen als deelgenoot met mijn Heer!"

Hij is het, Die u het Boek heeft nedergezonden;

Er zijn verzen in, die onoverdrachtelijk zijn, zij vormen de grondslag van het Boek, en er zijn andere (verzen), die zinnebeeldig zijn. Maar degenen in wier hart dwaling is, volgen die, welke zinnebeeldig (bedoeld) zijn en zoeken tweedracht en de verkeerde uitleg! En niemand kent de juiste uitleg dan Allah en diegenen, die vast gegrondvest zijn in kennis, die zeggen: "Wij geloven er in; het geheel is van onze Heer"; en niemand trekt er lering uit, dan zij, die begrip hebben!

Imaam al-Barbahaaree (rahima-hullaah) mentions:


The innovators are like scorpions.

They bury their heads and bodies in the sand and leave their tails out.

When they get the chance they sting; the same with the innovators who conceal themselves amongst the people, when they are able, they do what they desire!!

Sharhus-Sunnah – Imaam al-Barbahaaree.

Al Imaam Aboe Hatim Ibn Hibbaan Al bastti (rahimahu Allah) zei:

De tong van de oprechte zit achter zijn hart. Als hij wil praten, raadpleegt hij zijn hart. Als het in zijn voordeel is dan praat hij en anders niet.

De onwetende heeft zijn hart aan het uiteinde van zijn tong zitten en alles wat zijn tong passeert spreekt hij uit. En degene die zijn tong niet in bedwang houdt, is niet in staat om zijn Religie te begrijpen! Rawdatoe Al'oqalaa-e wa nuzhatoe Alfodalaa-e (blz 49).




Wat een enkel woord kan doen:

Volgens Abu Hurayra [Radhiya Allahu ‘anhu] heeft de Boodschapper van Allah [sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa salam] gezegd:

“Zeker, de mens zegt een woord dat de volmaakte tevredenheid van Allah waard is, zonder er goed over na te denken en Allah zal hem door dit woord enkele graden hoger brengen. Zeker, de mens zegt een woord dat de woede van Allah de Verhevene veroorzaakt, zonder er goed over na te denken, en hij zal met dit woord in de Hel geworpen worden!”

Imaam Ahmad rahimuhAllah (d. 241) said;

“The person of theological rhetoric will never prosper. And never do you see anyone looking into theological rhetoric except that in his heart is a desire for creating mischief!“

“Voordat het Uur komt zullen er jaren van bedrog en misleiding zijn, waar een eerlijk persoon niet geloofd wordt en een persoon die liegt geloofd zal worden; en de onbenullige zal het voor het zeggen hebben!”(Ahmad).
