That is the subject of this evening's "Talking Points Memo." Once again, the Arab [satellite] TV network, which broadcasts out of Qatar, is helping the most vicious terrorists on earth. Al-Jazeera (search) broadcasts images of kidnapped CARE director Margaret Hassan (search) crying and pleading for her life today. You'll remember she was abducted in Iraq last Tuesday. Seeing this poor woman suffering is an atrocity in itself, but Al Jazeera goes much further. The terrorists know their evil deeds will be broadcast worldwide on that network, thereby giving these killers more incentive to commit their crimes against humanity. By playing along with the terrorists, Al Jazeera has become a terror organization itself. Remember, that network actually broadcast the beheading of American Paul Johnson in Saudi Arabia. The U.S. government should immediately brand Al Jazeera a terrorist organization, expel their employees and ban the network in America. Currently it can be seen on some subscription TV channels. Canada actually allows Al Jazeera to broadcast on its cable band. That's incredible, and other nations do it as well. The Bush administration should also put pressure on the Qatar government to close down Al Jazeera. Because that outfit reaches 30 million Muslims, the USA can't take direct action, like bombing it, as that would cause even more violence. But it can demand accountability from Qatar. This whole thing makes me sick. And every American should realize what's going on here. Imagine that poor woman suffering every second of every day, knowing these killers could cut her head off at any time. Instead of broadcasting the woman's anguish, Al Jazeera should be turning in the terrorists with whom they are working. Finally, the FOX News channel will not play any part of that horrendous tape.
